I subscribe to both and pay attention to the difference. "At work" I run three
computers, I use no filters of any sort. I subscribed to each sublist and I
subscribe to about twenty newslists. I immediately check Judith's, Brett's and
Michaels sites. I am subscribed to many lists through an alias and do not
participate at all and only learn from the free flow of information. I monitor
all ICANN related lists and forums. Since Net Sol burn I cache and do not
delete. I do all this in manual style. When the traffic gets really heavy (30 an
hour) it may take one sixtieth of my time to use my brain and fingers to
accomplish all the filtering I need. At one point I immediately ignored mail
from a select few, that was stupid and I no longer do it. Those that complain
about noise must have a glitch in their human computer, or are simply using it
as a device to censor. OTOH I am a speed reader, and have practiced and modified
the technique for computers.
