Re: Brands, TLDs, and Private Ownership (Was:Re: [wg-c]

Hi Charles,

Would you also advocate not prosecuting any thieves until ALL murders have
been resolved? Are you trying to tell us that you agree that there is a
wrong here, but that you consider it "less" wrong than other ones? It is the
most direct attempt to distract attention so far that I have seen from you.
At least in this case you are straight forwardly saying "may I attract your
attention to the others first". :-)

No, I am saying that the purpose of the entire program was
to provide monies to concerns to enter a nascent field and
do research and provide services, with the expectation that
some of them would do well and contribute to the development
of the technology, scale of the Internet, new markets, etc.
In return, they get to keep the assets.

One of my former employers - Sprint - did very nicely under
this program, and I'm proud of that.

You may not like the program and these arrangements.  However,
in fairness to NSF, it worked rather enormously well, IMHO.
That 2,500 million investment produced a return at least 1000
times as great and created one of the great revolutions of the
20th century - a massive shared private networked computer
resource, development, and economic engine.

If you instead want to apply your religious tenets to all
of this and find everyone has engaged in massive collective
sinful acts, well....go for it.  However, don't expect everyone
to accept your beliefs.
