I doubt this would be an issue if the contractual rules that have been
discussed were implemented.  If the company knew that should they fail
to meet their obligations, or otherwise because unable or unwilling to
operate the registry, that the TLD (regardless of the string) and ALL
related IP (such as the whois database) revert to ICANN for assignment
to a third party.

I doubt Microsoft or AT&T or IBM or any of the others would have much
interest in operating a TLD of their company name under those terms.
