You are talking apples and goats.

IOD has said the exact same thing for the past 4 years: Postel asked who
wanted to run registries, and for those to get up and running and show
the "running code." Unlike CORE, IOD has never claimed to be in
charge, has never claimed to be the anointed successor of the root,
and has never claimed that its registry would be in the root by a
certain date, changing that date as it came and went. It also has
not chosen a TLD that was previously trademarked. I could go on,
but I think the difference is clear.

In short, it's the difference between playing fair and playing
dirty. Very dirty.

But you know what they say - what goes around comes around.
