Re: [wg-c] WG Chairs

Milton,

>Javier runs the list and was designated Chair without the consent of
anyone on this list. He sits on the Names Council and will vote on the
ultimate proposal. He is also the one who informed us of the decision made
behind the scenes that we were to elect another chair. This is control, not
marginalization.

Names Council teleconferences are webcasted. The fact that you choose not
to listen to them does not make "behind closed doors"... They are in the
web in complete form. Go listen to them and try to get at least one fact
right.

The Names Council is supposed to manage the decision making process, which
supposedly takes place in the working groups. Working groups prepare
documents that the NC has to approve. If these documents are in complete
disagreement with the majority of the Names Council, it will not approve
them as they are.

The Names Council represents all the contituencies. The general assembly
and the working groups include the voices of individuals, but if what these
individuals agree on is against the interests or desires of the big
majority of players (constituencies), these constituencies, in the Name
Council, will take those documents for what they represent and decide on
what they believe is the interest of all the groups.

It is not a good idea to have a WG too far from the Names Council, this is
why the Names Council decided that one of the two chairs should come from
the Names Council.

Milton, you can discuss WG process forever, but it really gives the
impression that you have no other arguments than attacking people personally.

Here, do an exercise: try to express you arguments without naming me or
anybody else for the next 24 hours. Can you?
