RE: [registrars] whois lookup

I am all confused here. Seemingly every Registrar seems to be discussing how
this prevents getting the registrants real email address. I do not
understand where it matters. To me the process is as follows

1. registrant goes to registrar A, to transfer his domain to Registrar A

2. Registrar A queries losing Registrar B's whois database and gets an email
address "125436.some.email@whoismailforwarder.com"

3. Registrar A sends an email to this mail address with the knowledge that
this mail would be forwarded to the actual owner. This mail has a key and a
url for the owner to visit and express his intent to transfer

4. On clicking this link the domain gets transferred

as noticed most registrars have a form that they expect the owner to fill at
the time of transferring the domain name, and it is this data from this form
that is used for the registrant info etc. in this case i do not see any
issue as to why one would need the registrant information from the losing
registrar

secondly the ICANN agreement mandates all Registrars to maintain complete
records of ALL domain names for 3 years - "During the Term of this Agreement
and for three years thereafter,
Registrar (itself or by its agent(s)) shall maintain the following records
relating to its dealings with the Registry Operator(s) and Registered Name
Holders: 3.4.2.1 In electronic form, the submission date and time, and the
content, of all registration data (including updates)submitted in electronic
form to the Registry Operator(s);"

therefore as such any registrar is mandated to have this data with them at
any point in time.
