RE: [registrars] Registrar Fees
Greetings all,
As most of you know, I have no problems with an increase in out annual fee to $750.00. However, I think we need to develop a budget and a system for managing the Consitiuency budget and accounting for expenditure. Given our funding base, this should not be a major exercise and I am sure Mchael already has an outline budget in mind. However, with an increase in fees there is a need for increased transparency, planning and accountability.
As a preliminary, I woud appreciate clarification of the following:
(i) what is our Names Council fee? - what portion of the proposed $750.00 fee will be required to cover that fee?;
(ii) what portion remains to support the operations of the Registrars constituency? - how is this to be spent?;
(iii) what is the period for which the new fee (and old fee of $250,00) is payable? ; and
(iv) do we have any record of expenditure and accounting of the money already paid ($250.00 fee) to the Registrars constituency.

Hello All:
Listed below are all the registrars that have paid the initial $250
registrar constituency dues. This $250 fee was for PAST expenses incurred by
the Names Counsel. The only one NOT listed is Virtual Internet which I have
been working with Diane at ICANN over a wire transfer problem. Anyone else
not listed please contact me.
In Yokohama, we discussed raising the dues to $750 to cover the increased
Names Counsel fees (projected around $19,000 for the calander year starting
in March). This new fee would go toward our March 2000-2001 Names Counsel
fees, i.e. no more fees until next March. Unless there is any objection
(doubtful), I propose that we enact the new fee and require payment prior to
the LA meeting in November. However, as always I am open for any other
suggestions.
