I understand, from working with various Marketing folks, (also, I was twice 
a Director of Marketing as well), value-added products/services are phrases 
which indicate marketing will come from all sorts of places to you because 
you are a customer of some company.

I understand, according to our conversation yesterday, this was to be 
abolished along with other phrases that allow unsolicited marketing to happen.
