Court issues TRO against Verisign in deceptive marketing lawsuit

http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/020514/dctu071_1.html

Following a two-hour hearing this morning, BulkRegister, the fourth
largest domain name registrar, won a preliminary injunction against
VeriSign at the United States Federal Court for the District of
Maryland.

The judge agreed there is sufficient evidence in the case to prove
that VeriSign's recent "Domain Name Expiration Notice" marketing
campaign is deceptive. As a result, BulkRegister was awarded a
preliminary injunction. The court found that BulkRegister as well as
its registrants have been injured and would continue to be injured if
the campaign proceeded. Additionally, the judge said VeriSign or other
third-party entities must immediately discontinue deceptive transfer,
renewal or expiration notices to BulkRegister's customers.
