[ga] DNSO board elections
It has been suggested I clarify the procedure for the
forthcoming DNSO board election. The reference is by-lawsVI-B 2 e and
precedent.
Nominations
The nomination process for candidates is naturally via the GA
as the all-embracing body of the DNSO. Interested parties have simply to join
the GA to nominate.
Support
In order to ensure candidates have some hope of success an
endorsement list of 10 names is required for the candidate to go forward to the
NC for the election itself. Those candidates will be screened for
diversity criteria and a final candidates list produced.
Diversity
Diversity under the by-laws means that "no two directors
serving on the Board selected by the NC shall be citizens of the same country or
of countries located in the same Geographic Region." DNSO
board directors remaining are Alejandro Pisanty (Mexico) and Jonathan Cohen
(Canada). This means the current election must select a candidate from Europe,
Asia/Australia/Pacific or Africa.
Timetable
The DNSO secretariat will post details of the timetable in due
course.
