Please reply on this thread with either "yes" or "no". I believe that 
sufficient bandwidth has already been expended on discussion of the question.

Since Mr Conant doesn't like the existing system, and thinks that 24 hours 
is sufficient time for leaving a vote open (as opposed to the 5 days we're 
currently operating under), the vote will close 24 hours from the time of 
his question, and will occur publicly on this thread . If a majority of 
respondents agree with Mr Conant, we will reopen the question. If a 
majority disagree, I expect Mr Conant to cease his agitation on this matter 
immediately upon the conclusion of the period.
