Sorry, you ought to look at the types of records, from A to LOC to TXT.

MX (mail exchanger) records aren't "large-scale"?

PTR records aren't "large-scale"?

CNAME records aren't "large-scale"?

The DNS never was and is not now simply for name to IP addresses.
