Karl,

Then what would be the point? Why not simply use the IP address and drop the
DNS altogether? The value-add, that DNS brings to the party, _is_ the
semantic overlayment. It provides the mnemonic triggers that humans need.
Without this, the internet goes back to obscurity, like Fidonet (1:103/507.2
aka "The Philosophers Log" [the name is NOT part of the address nor usable
as one]).
