After reviewing the sequence, I was surprised and chagrined to discover
that you were right and I do apologize. Really.
No matter how tempting, I should not have responded to silliness and
ignorance and over-simplification with a personal attack and should,
instead, have focused on the reasons the comments displayed these various
deficiencies.
Now I realize that this looks like more baiting, but the problem is in
trying to make clear the degree of provocation. After 15 years of hearing
people trivially assert that one or another directory service was going to
solve all our global information problems, it's difficult not to get a tad
frustrated. And since you have been privy to many discussions of that
topic over the last few years, well, what IS one to think of your invoking
it here?
As to your marketing assessments. Well, those "various deficiencies"
appear to know little restraint.
