[comments-gtlds] RE: How is it determined who gets new extensions - why let hyphens prevail!

Hi again Jim,

Do we understand you right? As only an example, are you saying
the existing trading-online.com gets the name trading.online, but
the tradingonline.com does not qualify. Or am I somehow
misunderstanding.

If so, again, I don't agree. Perhaps you are not a programmer.
The software can easily and simply be programmed to separate the
keywords based on the keyword itself. An existing hyphenated name
does not make the programming job easier as it can easily be
worked around with a slight amount of code.

For example, tradingonline.com All the programmer need do is put
in a line or two of code saying put a space or hyphen in front of
the online keyword. Thus, tradingonline becomes trading-online
and the (assumed in almost all cases) more famous well known
website can get the online extension. Why reward the less well
known and possibly new website with th e hyphen. It makes zero
sense.

It's very easy to do. This is the way to do it as we all know the
hyphenated name should not be rewarded over the much more likely
well known and famous non-hyphenated name.

Please do it the right way or don't do it all.

Sincerely,

Dave Green

I guess we have to agree to disagree.
The software can detect a dash and make
it a dot. The software can not easily guess
other word separations.

Sorry for the delay in responding...we are
busy working on the most popular DLDs first...
