RE: [registrars] auto deact -vs- auto renew

Hi Rick,

I was present during the time we discussd this with chuck. The specific
things you missed were -

* VGRS does not charge the registrar until an explicit renew. VERY VERY
important for our fund management. This would alo allow VGRS to know
when the domain name is renewed (which resolves the whois blues). This
also resolves the transfer during aut-renew issues that ALL registrars
face today (deduction of 1 year in the domain)

* VGRS DOES NOT deactivate on the 10th day. Instead a registrar is
allowed to specify which day they want the deactivation to occur.
Alternatively a registrar sends the deactivation command (just how they
do it today)

* Infact for further clarity to registrars who were not a part of this
discussion - all that we are proposing is that the AUTO-RENEW period
becomes a grace period during which a Registrar sends a EXPLICIT renew
command to renew the domain name

* AFTER the 45th day if NO explicit renew has been sent, then the domain
is put on Registry-HOLD for 5 days (delete grace period)

* After 5 days the domain I deleted (30 day redemption race period)

* After 30 days domain is available

This process resolves all the issues that are currently being faced
(whois, transfer during autorenew and most importantly, fund-management
for us registrars where our funds are NOT deducted unless an explicit
renew command is sent)
