[registrars] [Fwd: Announcement for Trademark Holders]

So is this the way it is going to
be now going forward? An Afilias member spaming, and
making sure everyone knows they are a "member"
of Afilias? (I guess I should stop complaining
about Verisign/NSI.) Is this an Afilias approved
practice?

Dear Domain Name Registrant:

Icann, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, has
approved new global Top Level Domains: .Info, .Biz. The regstries for
these new names provide a special service for trademark holders only,
allowing you to protect your mark:
You can register your trademark name during a sunrise period, before
the registries open to the landrush by the general public. Your
trademark must be registered nationwide before October 2, 2000,
in any country.

1stDomain.Net, member of the Afilias .Info registry, is now preparing
its database with listings of trademark sunrise requests, to be
submitted as soon as the registry opens.

Make use of the sunrise period to protect yourself from costly
ligitation against cybersquatters. After the sunrise period, anybody
anywhere can register your name and you would need to go through
dispute resolution in order to try to recover your name.

Please note that trademarks in ANY country are eligible to be
registered during the preferred sunrise period. United States trademark
holders will have NO priority, names will be submitted first come first
serve. Therefore, please act at your earliest convenience.

To submit your request into the database, please click here:

(note: depending on your email program, you might have to copy
and paste two lines of the link above in order to access it).

This listing service is a courtesy service to trademark holders only,
and free of cost.
