It seems to me one can always ask nicely.  That doesn't require a trademark.

Besides, perhaps we should give one of the new gTLD registrars the 
business.  ICANN, in its wisdom, has required reservation of of 
ICANN-related terms in new gTLDs.  What about gnso.info?
