Thanks for forwarding this to Chuck Gomes, Roger, and we will look
forward to working with him to ensure that all sides of the
issues/perspectives are heard.

I express no option on Versign Registry views on whether the Council or
its Task Forces have a role to review the planned waitlist service but,
with your permission, will post your email to the TF. Is that
acceptable to you?

Marilyn

Marilyn-

Thanks very much for inviting the VeriSign Registry to make a short
presentation on its planned waitlist service to the Names Council Task
Force on Transfers. As you may know, the VeriSign Registry has been
engaged in consultations on this planned service for almost six months.
During these consultations, essentially every aspect of this new and
valuable service has been examined and re-examined.

As we all know, the purpose and competence of the Names Council and its
task forces is the management of the development of consensus on policy
matters. The VeriSign Registry does not agree that its planned waitlist
service involves any new policy matters and consequently the VeriSign
Registry neither supports nor accepts a legitimate role for the Council,
or its task forces, to review its planned waitlist service. To the
extent that there are new policy matters raised by the waitlist service,
they have been neither identified nor justified.

Nonetheless, the VeriSign Registry has made extensive efforts to consult
and to participate in thorough consultations on its planned waitlist
service and it will continue to do so. To that end, the Registry's
representative on this matter is Chuck Gomes who can share copies of the
descriptive materials that have already been widely circulated on this
planned service and I'm sure would be happy to respond to any questions
you or others may have.

Chuck is copied on this note and he will contact you shortly regarding
arrangements for his participation.

Roger

Dan, Louie, Roger

The purpose of this email is to invite all of you to the two upcoming
consultations with the constituencies/Task Force regarding WLS.

In addition, I am inviting ICANN staff to short presentation at the
beginning of the call, similar to the presentation in Accra.

Further, I would like to invite Verisign, the Registry, to make a short
presentation, Roger. Please pass this invitation along to the
appropriate Verisign representative and ask them to contact Marie to
confirm. If there are materials you would like to share with the
participants, it would be good to provide them to her so that they can
be distributed to the group before the meeting.

For both of you, if you prefer to post to the list so that everyone can
just down load them, that would be fine as well. For Verisign,
Christine Russo has posting privileges, of course, as a member of the
TF.

For Dan or Louie, Marie can post for you, or Glen can be asked to post
for you.

Both calls are expected to be duplicates of each other in terms of
format; we are trying to address the time challenges as best we can of
our geographically distributed set of stakeholders.

We look forward to hearing from you that you can accept this invitation.

This is a follow-up to the Task Force Chair's posting announcing two
consultation calls for next week - the dates are: Tuesday, May 21 and
Wednesday, May 22. I am posting the following announcement on the
Chair's behalf: The purpose of these calls is to provide an opportunity
for discussion and input on the WLS proposal. These calls will be
duplicative in nature so that an opportunity is presented on two
different dates in the event you cannot make one of the dates. FYI - a
draft document will be posted on Monday to this list by the Chair.

The format of the meeting follows:  Welcome; Overview by ICANN Staff;
Invited presentation by Verisign Registry on the WLS proposal;
Round-robin comments from participants on call (you are invited to sign
up for a queue to make comments by emailing Marie Juliano at
mjuliano@att.com - OFF LIST. ) There are two options available: if you
wish to make a prepared presentation of 5 to 7 minutes, you can sign up
for such a slot, and, time permitting, we will try to accommodate. If
you wish to just ask questions or make brief comments, a queue will be
built during the call and you will have a chance to ask your questions.

Reminder - the format for both calls will be the same except for
presenters. It is not really necessary for you to be on both calls
unless you particularly want to.

This call will be open to your constituency representatives who are
interested and to interested representatives of the GA, but you will
need to make that announcement to your group. In order to ensure we
have enough ports, people must RSVP by Monday, May 20, by email to Marie
(mjuliano@att.com).

The call on Tuesday, May 21, will be at 1:00 p.m. EDT (US). The call on
Wednesday, May 22, will be at 10:00 a.m. EDT (US) - duration 2 hours.

Bridge number and participants' code remain the same on both days.

Bridge No.: 517-267-0146

Participants' Code: 735 304

Host (Marilyn) Code: 743 890
