If I receive an email of someone asking to buy a domain I happen to have,
I look around for information. The email address might betray something. I
may look if she has a website, or works for a company that does. I can use
Google in addition. If I think it is a sizeable company that wants my
domain I would ask a higher price than when I had the idea it was for
personal use.

So in this case you benefit from having kept your information to yourself.
