William the ALSC was specifically set up the Board to advise on at
large issues, given $500,000 of funding, and an internationally
respected figure as Chair.  However this still didn't give the Board a
moment's pause in totally ignoring the ALSC recommendations and
eliminating at large representation on the Board.

So if they are willing to do that to the ALSC what makes you think the
GA has ever a sherrick of influence?  I used to think it could have
some influence but the Accra resolutions of the Board where they
ignored the ALSC, the Names Council, Taskforces and in fact everyone
except their own staff has changed my view.
