[ga] New Privacy rules may impact ICANN and Registrars/Registries

All,

  See:
http://cnniw.newsreal.com/cgi-bin/NewsService?osform_template=pages/cnniwStory&ID=cnniw&storypath=News/Story_2000_01_15.NRdb@2@6@3@4&path=News/Category.NRdb@2@4

Important Excerpt:

"Importantly, consumers are getting a new right to stop

the financial businesses from sharing their personal
data with a third party, such as a telemarketer, with
                 some exceptions."

and...

"That right, however, doesn't go as far as consumer
groups and privacy advocates had wanted. Financial
companies with whom you do business will be able to
share or sell your data unless you expressly ask them,
in writing, not to do so. The onus is on consumers."

===============================================================

So for those of you that are Domain name OWNERS, you might want
to inform your Registrar of record and the NSI registry of you wishes.
It might be a good idea as well to notify the ICANN Board as well as
to what you wish as to you credit and financial as well as other
personal
information regarding your Domain Name or IP number assignments.
