Re: [ga-roots] [Fwd: Fwd: nos voro illos que offendo]

Just to throw one more comment in...

To jump from IP version 4 to IP version 6 (leaving out the version 5) was
meant to signify, that it is a major jump forward...

There is right now already an "IPv6 backbone" for testing purposes,
spanning the whole world (even to Vietnam!). Where IPv6 connections are not
available, it can be "tunneled" through IPv4 lines.

What has also not been said until now, is, that IPv4 addresses are quite
enough in the US, but scarce outside.
In the early days, when they didn't imagine, what would be later, they were
quite generous with IP address space and allocated big junks to some big US
companies etc.
The outside world had later to be satisfied with what was left over.

IPv6 address space is that huge, that it provide thousands (or so) IP
addresses per square meter of Earth surface....

Not, that this had much to do with roots....
... but since you were asking ;)
