Dear Council Members,

Following the results of the Names Council vote to waive the current NC
Rules of procedure solely for the Names Council Chair election on 14
February 2002.

Solely for the purposes of the Names Council Chair election taking place on
February 14, 2002, the Names Council moves to waive the provision of Section
1.1 of the Rules of Procedure for the DNSO which prohibits a retiring Names
Council Chair from running for re-election for a period of one year.

The motion is adopted by 10 in favour, 9 against, 1 abstention,

The nomination period for candidates for the position of Names Council chair
is now open.

The nomination period ends at 18:00 CET (Paris time) 17:00 UTC
on Wednesday 13 February 2002

The election will take place during the Names Council teleconference on
Thursday 14 February 2002
