The original reason to schedule a meeting after the ICANN Board meeting was to immediatly follow up with the decisions of the Board. Having the meeting right after the GA seems like a good idea, but you should also consider having a short meeting on Thursday afternoon to follow up with the Board, instead of having to wait for 14 days after the meeting.
