Re: [wg-review] RE:WG Members

Joanna,

These are good questions which deserve answers.

I understand that YJ is our liason chair and that questions of this
import
should be addressed to her. I will include her in this response
mailing. I
remember the list being open to a certain time and then closed and then
opened
and then closed.

The Unsubscribe mechanics are kind of a U.S.G. hybrid adoption of
regulations
regarding junk mail. Basically this mechanical device should always be
functional and available to a subscriber of email lists. Kind of like
getting
on is a priviledge and getting off is a right.

I believe it would do well to look at the At Large Membership process.
Unless
they (we) have changed it lately. After a certain date you could no
longer
become a memeber, in all fairness this had to do with the elections and
like a
voter registration cut-off. The funny thing is that to my knowledge it
never
got re-opened.

I think we are talking about an endemic problem here. See Danny's post
yesterday and refer to one of mine regarding action taken after wroking
groups. Then look to the actual corporate structure and you see that we
have
no insides to the ICANN beast. On point is my daughter Addy, she just
finished The Wizard of OZ. "Even though everything worked out, it was
cruel
for him to fake being something he was not." Go and look at the
staffing
budget for ICANN. It is missing about 40 employees, from secretaries to
marketing director to janitor. Any large corp. or governmental entity
has
board meetings and refer matters to "staff" to get things done we don't
have
one here, so how can anything really get done.

I hear that old professor again, "Dierker you have not budgeted for
anyone to
do the work of your little corporation, were you going to do it with
volunteers?"

Also please take the GA list thread regarding the GA discussion and its'
roll
and post the links here. I believe that should cover that issue very
nicely
and assure it is included in our archives under that subject.

Sorry Miss but that question has to go to the complaint department and
we just
cancelled that department.

I don't say this with malice, it just illustrates the work we must do.

Sincerely,
