the question you ask was well worn in WG B last year. Take
this reply to the idea of a dot fame:
"The proposal to spend further time over the .fame idea is not a good
one.
The reason wg b exists is because certain marks are famous - and that fame is widespread. The point is that you cannot box it away and hope you have imprisoned the fame. Fame pervades, it leaks out. It will not be silenced. The famous name is known to consumers, it is seen on goods and services, in ads on and off line. Putting the famous name in one domain does not stop the potential for consumer confusion and consumer fraud where that name is used elsewhere. If only it were so simple. If . fame was anything like a solution the IP community would have happily proposed it ages ago. Alas, it is no solution. Philip Sheppard"
