At worst, that motivates them to say SOMETHING.

It does not affect the content of their statement.  "Influence" is the same 
no matter what they say.

However the real humor in the claim that they are affected by "influence" 
is how reluctant they are to get into these kinds of topics and how much 
effort it took to refine the question sufficiently to make it strictly 
technical and not political.

Of course, a different issue is how silly it is to be arguing motivations, 
rather than the content of their thorough and well thought-out statement.
