Candidate Statement

Short Statement:

I am a father and grandfather who understands the important role the Internet will play in his progeny's lives, and is unwilling to see the moneyed interests rule it as their own fiefdom to the detriment of the millions -- and future billions! -- of common Internet users in the world.

Long Statement

I am not a member of the "Internet Intelligencia," and although I own my domain to provide my online presence some stability, I have no stake in any of the power plays currently ripping ICANN apart. What I am is a father and grandfather who understands the important role the Internet will play in his progeny's lives, who is unwilling to see the moneyed interests rule it as their own fiefdom to the detriment of the millions -- and future billions! -- of common Internet users in the world. So regardless of the outcome of this election, I will continue to work in any capacity I can to ensure a future for the At Large.

We are at a crux. What we as an organization do in the next few months and years, and whether or not we are successful in our efforts to organize the Internet user community, may well determine whether the collective peoples of the earth, or the current power brokers pulling ICANN's strings, will control the future of the Internet. Our greatest risk, and my greatest fear for our organization, is that members with diverse ideas will spend valuable time arguing about the eventual shape of the walls while the foundation remains unbuilt. I stand in the center and ask everyone to join me in building a strong foundation for our organization based on openness, accountability and mutual respect, then move on to build an organization the can truely claim to represent the consensus of the world's Internet users.
