Not true Michael.

ISI has been permiting .us local registries to charge a "reasonable
fee" for registrations for quite some time now.

In some cities this "reasonable fee" is as high as $25/yr, and in
others they are not charging at all.  But by and large more and more
are charing anywhere from $10 to $25/yr.
