  2. Law School (PLT) at the Transvaal Law Society in Pretoria, South Africa (1998)

  3. Attorney's articles: John & Kernick the Intellectual Property Law Office of Bowman Gilfillan Inc and completion of the prescribed attorneys admission exams, (Johannesburg 1998 - 2000).

CURRENT EMPLOYMENT:

  1. Intellectual property attorney and section head of the E-commerce law department of John & Kernick, the Intellectual Property Law Office of Bowman Gilfillan Inc. The e-commerce law department deals with a number of Internet related issues, but has specific expertise in domain name administration, management, escrow and litigation. In this regard I was the first South African based attorney to make successful use of the ICANN UDRP.   2. Legal Advisor to UniForum SA, the Administrators of the South African Commercial Domain (CO.ZA), regarded as the most successful domain on the African Continent.

      Projects include:

    1. Drafting and researching a Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy and Rules.
    2. Drafting and researching a legal FAQ list pertaining to amongst others domain name disputes
    3. Attend and participate in the WIPO and ICANN ccTLD Geneva meeting (representing the .ZA administrator)

      Duties include:

    4. Dealing with and assessing domain name disputes, and advising the Board where necessary of the potential consequences and risk of liability.
    5. Assisting and advising the Board with strategic legal planning specifically in relation to disputes within the CO.ZA domain. Drafting and formalising legal policy relating to domain name disputes.
