RE: [registrars] personalnames.com opens at a pricepoint of $14.95

You're right. I just checked and it doesn't start until February 15th.

Actually, it isn't yet.  That price decrease hasn't come into effect yet.  I believe it does sometime later this month.

I suspect GNR wanted to wait to reduce their price until all of the landrush domains from last year's initial push had to be renewed.

Rob,

GNR sent out a notice on 1/20 about reduced pricing. The price of an email/domain combo for 1yr is now only $7.00.

I see that PersonalNames.com just opened their site, and are offering the dual registration of both email and domain name for $ 14.95 per year.  They drop down to $10.99 per year if you buy multiple years (which is currently below cost).

So much for the GNR horseshit over the last year about "its a premium product", "it will support a premium price".

And so much for GNR claiming they are only using their new registrar to "test different marketing styles".  I guess they need money desperately, so they are starting with "lets sell them at a loss, because we make up for it in volume" type of business model.

Sigh.

Rob.
