Bret,

Are you then saying that ICANN's orgininal mission was a mission impossible?

Or that  the "success" in bandaging the NSI monopoly was simply a matter of 
fronting up for a job, doing what they were told, without any 
decisionmaking or real judgement about what they were doing to bring real 
competition into the marketplace?
