That is really their problem.

You can't go around regulating to take care of every possible error a
customer may make.

This is really about personal responsibility.  The registrant is the
one ultimately responsible.  If they use an email address under their
domain, then they have to accept the risk, and make sure that they do
not let that domain end up on hold for non-payment.

We do not need to, nor should we, coddle people.
