Reminder of upcoming calls related to Wait Listing Service

I am distributing this widely since I have learned that a couple of
the Transfer TF members or their administrative representatives
may be out of their office or unable to participate actively
due to travel or other circumstances. They may not have been able
to announce these calls to their constituency members. I APOLOGIZE IF
IS A DUPLICATE ANNOUNCEMENT YOU HAVE RECEIVED FROM YOUR TF MEMBER.

This is an important comment/input opportunity which your constituency
and the GA should be aware of.

This has already been announced to the GA by the GA chair.
Thank you, Thomas.

I would appreciate it if other constituencies would post this
announcement to their lists so that everyone is aware of the
upcoming calls, and following comment period.

Background:
On March 21, 2002, Verisign Registry requested amendments to
Appendix G for .com and .net to allow for a 12 month trial of
the VGRS Wait Listing Service Proposal. The General Counsel
for ICANN posted an Analysis of VGRS's Request for Amendme3nt to
Registry Agreement on April 17,2002.

The board resolutions on WLS can be found at
http://www.icann.org/minutes/prelim-report-22apr02.htm ;
a second cite of interest is
http://www.icann.org/minutes/response-vgrs-wls-21apr02.htm
The Board referred the WLS proposal to the Names Council for
a review of issues related to the deletion of domain names
and possible solutions; asking that a status report be given to
the Board by no later than June 10 by the Names Council.

The status report is to include recommendations regarding Verisign's
request to modify the .com and .net agreements to provide a wait
listing service (WLS) for a fee, as part of its operation of .com
and .net registries, supporting materials, etc. This was referred
to the Transfers Task Force by the Names Council. Time will be devoted
to the WLS issue at the Public Forum in Bucharest. The TF needs to
provide the status report to the NC for its next meeting, June 6,
so that the NC can provide a status report to the Board by June 10.

The Transfer TF has announced two teleconferences scheduled for
May 21 and May 22 in order to hear from interested, affected, and concerned parties.
These teleconferences are open to any interested party and are not limited
to the TF members.

A few speakers are scheduled to make opening remarks to provide background and
perspectives; these will be followed by statements by those who "sign up"
in advance; followed by Questions and discussion from other participants.

Minutes of the calls will be posted on the Transfer TF archive.

Please post this announcement to your constituency and the GA,
so that interested parties may participate.

Again, in order to ensure sufficient ports, please send an email
to Marie Juliano, mjuliano@att.com, with a copy to Marilyn Cade,
mcade@attcom. That way we can ensure that there are
sufficient ports for all interested to participate.

IF YOU WISH TO SIGN UP FOR A 5-7 MINUTE STATEMENT, PLEASE INDICATE
THAT IN YOUR EMAIL.
OTHERWISE, INDICATE THAT YOU WISH TO ATTEND. QUESTIONS WILL BE
TAKEN FROM THE "FLOOR" AS WELL. YOU DO NOT NEED TO SIGN UP
TO BE ABLE TO ASK A QUESTION DURING THE CALL.

Subject: [nc-transfer] Transfer Task Force Consultation Calls Schedule
Importance: High

This is a follow-up to the Task Force Chair's posting announcing two
consultation calls for next week - the dates are: Tuesday, May 21 and
Wednesday, May 22. I am posting the following announcement on the
Chair's behalf: The purpose of these calls is to provide an opportunity
for discussion and input on the WLS proposal. These calls will be
duplicative in nature so that an opportunity is presented on two
different dates in the event you cannot make one of the dates. FYI - a
draft document will be posted on Monday to this list by the Chair.

The format of the meeting follows:  Welcome; Overview by ICANN Staff;
Invited presentation by Verisign Registry on the WLS proposal;
Round-robin comments from participants on call (you are invited to sign
up for a queue to make comments by emailing Marie Juliano at
mjuliano@att.com - OFF LIST. ) There are two options available: if you
wish to make a prepared presentation of 5 to 7 minutes, you can sign up
for such a slot, and, time permitting, we will try to accommodate. If
you wish to just ask questions or make brief comments, a queue will be
built during the call and you will have a chance to ask your questions.

Reminder - the format for both calls will be the same except for
presenters. It is not really necessary for you to be on both calls
unless you particularly want to.

This call will be open to your constituency representatives who are
interested and to interested representatives of the GA, but you will
need to make that announcement to your group. In order to ensure we
have enough ports, people must RSVP by Monday, May 20, by email to Marie
(mjuliano@att.com).

The call on Tuesday, May 21, will be at 1:00 p.m. EDT (US). The call on
Wednesday, May 22, will be at 10:00 a.m. EDT (US) - duration 2 hours.

Bridge number and participants' code remain the same on both days.

Bridge No.: 517-267-0146

Participants' Code: 735 304

Host (Marilyn) Code: 743 890
