RE: [council] MOTION on Nominees to the new ICANN IDNsCommitee: ICANN Board has selected part of its members

Vany, given that ICANN kicked WIPO off the IDN Task Force on the grounds
that this is primarily a technical issue, I doubt it will see the need for
two representatives form the non-technical DNSO.

ICANN Board has selected part of its members

Hi to all:

ICANN Board in its meeting in Los Angeles has announced that they had
appointed part of the members of the ICANN IDNs Committee:

"Whereas the President, after consultation with the community, has
proposed the following individuals to
serve on the IDN Committee: Director Sang-Hyon Kyong, Patrik
Falstrom (IETF), Vincent Wen-Sung Chen
(TWNIC), Qiheng Hu (Internet Society of China), Mohd Sharil
Tarmizi (GAC Vice Chair), and Stuart Lynn
(ICANN CEO), and reports that he is still in the process of
identifying other individuals who could
         meaningfully contribute to this effort;"

Due to the previous statement, I invite all of you to review again the
motion I had proposed. Comments are welcome. I think it is
very important that: 1. DNSO has a full coverage of the IDN issues by
being allowed to has two representatives in the IDN taks force to work
together dealing with ASCII and non-ASCII character issues and
2. that the commitee be as diverse as possible.

Please, be so kind to read again the two motions proposed and share your
thoughs about them:
