Gentlemen
As chair of the committee, I provided Philip with the title he suggested for
the agenda item.
It is based on the title that I proposed by my email of 14/5 - which I know
Milton thought should be changed, but no one else (to my recollection)
supported Milton's change - so I had assumed that the working title stood.

I am not wishing to get hung up on semantics, but note that Milton's
suggested title was "Multiple DNS roots: technical, economic and policy
problems." (Milton's email of 15/5)
While I think this is more or less accommodating to the topic under
consideration it is limiting in that it does not in my view accommodate
consideration of the new.net - which I would characterise as an "alternative
naming" issue, which as Milton has correctly noted is one of the
considerations set for the committee. It also establishes a presumption that
there are "problems" - something I think we might wish to determine in the
course of our research.

In order to get an appropriate description of what it is we want to present
on, I suggest a variant of Milton's

"Report of the committee on multiple DNS roots and names."

Hope that works for you all.
Regards

I support Milton's position on this. I will join him in the objection if the
change is not made.

Peter,
I think Elisabeth has simply referenced Grant's original document. This was
a possible starting point for the work the group is now doing.

====
There is a lot more to be read into it. Such as
following agreed-upon NAmes Council decisions.

A committee was formed to do a briefing on the
technical aspects of "alternative roots."

Please modify the agenda item's label to:
"Report of the committee for briefing the Names Council on alternate roots."

If this change is not made, I will object to the agenda at the outset of the
meeting.

Here are the relevant notes from the meeting:

* need for a technical briefing [on alternate roots]
* need to distinguish between alternate roots and alternate names,
* need to make known that this issue is on the DNSO agenda.
