[council] next weeks teleconference
hello all.....
as we discussed at our previous meeting, i am scheduling a
teleconference meeting for next week. the format will be similiar to the last
teleconference with a listen-only dial in format for observers.
we have been asked by the board to provide input to them on the issues and
reports presented to the names council last month by the working groups "B"
& "C" and posted for public comment.
As previously discussed, the time for the this teleconference will be
BIASED towards the pacific rim participants. As a result , the conference will
be scheduled for 16:30 hrs USA eastern daylight time and should last
approx 90 minutes.
There has been alot of discussion regarding the function of the council and
its effectiveness . Recently , in my capacity as chairman, i have been
receiving very strong signals and comments from the board that they expect
us to provide some definitive recommendations regarding the reports and the
issues reviewed within (most particularly the working group "C" report).
it is very important that you all take the appropriate time to
review the reports and related comments and be prepared to help provide
the assistance the board has asked us for.
The basic issues covered in the working group "c" are a result of almost
one full year of dialogue, debate, research, and constructive discussions by
parties with a genuine interest in the issues covered in this working group.
more than ample opportunity has been provided for any person or
organization wishing to participate in this group has been provided as
well.
now it is time for us to fullfill the organizational
responsibilites imposed on us by the ICANN board.
