[agenda] Agenda Request

Greetings,
I am a business owner and use the internet extensively. I would like
to start off by saying that I have a lot of respect for the work your
committee has accomplished in administrating domain names.
I am encountering problems both with URLs and e-mail, and sure that
everyone else in the world is encountering similar problems. I believe
that a more strict policy on domain name extensions would have a very
positive impact on the world wide web. My requested agenda item, and
suggestion, is to spell out policy restrictions on the use of all domain
name extensions. At the present, .gov, .mil, .edu, and .int are the
only extensions that are restricted by use. I believe that all should
be restricted by use.
For example, one of the largest problems on the internet is
pornography. If there was a domain extension, such as .adult or .xxx,
and adult sites were restricted to use only this extension, then it
would be a lot more user friendly for the individuals to filter out the
unwanted and unsolicited exposure and e-mails from those sites. Adult
sites would be restricted from using any other domain name extension.
Let me give you an example of a recent problem I had. I attempted to go
to theUnited States Whitehouse's web site to show my son. I entered in
www.whitehouse.com and it was an adult site that my 12 year old son
should not have seen. I should have entered .gov instead of .com. If
the adult sites were restricted to a .adult or .xxx, this problem would
not have happened because I would not have entered one of those. This
would also make it extremely easy for individuals to filter out unwanted
and unsolicited e-mails from those types of sites.
I understand that there is a consideration for restricting the .org
specifically to non-profit organizations. I strongly support this.
I believe it would be very easy to come up with some usage descriptions
for the currently used domain name extension, such as .com, .net, .biz,
etc. And I believe a migration during renewal of the domain names could
be made for those sites needing to be moved to another domain name
extension.
Again, I applaud the work you have been doing! And I strongly request
that you consider my suggestion for the next meeting aggenda.
	Thank you very much.
	Sincerely,
